It’s Raquel here, affectionately known as Rocky. Welcome to my site plantzandsoul.com So, who am I? I’m a vegan, educator, mom, creator of BoriquaChicks.com, co-creator of AfroLatinosRock.com, and former restaurateur. I’m a proud Afro-Puerto Rican who grew up on the South Side of Chicago eating arroz con habichuelas (rice and beans) and bbq rib tips on many Sundays!
Things are much different now. Inspired by my sister’s vegan journey and just wanting to make healthier food choices in my life, I transitioned to eating plant-based foods. I created plantz and soul™ to connect with folks who are vegans, vegetarians, and those who are curious about transitioning their eating patterns to less meat and more fruits and vegetables. This media platform offers remixes to recipes of foods I’ve always loved while also sharing a glimpse of my life—from my favorite products to vegan-friendly food spots in the Midwest.
